The event will honor black professionals and recognize Black History Month.
It is set for the Pechanga Resort & Casino near Temecula. It will include exhibits and vendors from 5:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. The board of directors reception is from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., with the dinner beginning at 7 p.m.
Music will be by J. Boykin & Friends from 9:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m.
Awards Recipients include:
Dr. Victor M. Rodgers, chairman Department of Bioengineering, the first tenured black professor in engineering or for that matter in the sciences at UCR since the school was chartered.
Dr. Emeka Chikana, black doctor from Africa and pharmacist who has owned Day Street Pharmacy in Moreno Valley for several years.
Dr. Germaine D. Strother, family physician of 25 years, recognized as a family medicine fellow of American Academy of Family Physicians
Dwyane Hester, engineer manager at Bechtel Corporation, one of the largest engineering firms in the world.
Linda L. Smith, MBA, BSN, RN, founded the first and only African-American owned, fully accredited vocational career college in California licensed to teach vocational nursing and other allied health care programs, Four-D College.
